Imagine... you are working in a local television newsroom on a hot humid day in the middle of one of the busiest news days of the year. Your colleagues are simultaneously chasing down a variety of stories: a family burned out of their home during the late hours of the evening, a massive and out-of-control forest fire that is destroying thousands of acres of land and hundreds of homes, and a  touching story about a dog rescued from a deep sinkhole in the ground. Change is in the air. Does your office or workplace resemble the perceived chaos of this newsroom with several ongoing projects and too many priorities to choose from? For most of us, change is constant. Every day brings new challenges and new opportunities, and it seems every minute something new happens.  Change is something that everyone confronts daily; and, as in a local newsroom, sometimes that change seems to be happening by the minute.  How do you handle change?  What are some strategies to effectively manage a changing work environment?

Join Vanessa Flowers and Dave Roberts from 10/11 News at ASTD-Lincoln’s August 16 Learning Event as they share behind-the-scene stories about how an ever-changing newsroom develops a 30-minute nightly broadcast that is viewed by hundreds of thousands of people. Does every broadcast run smoothly? Learn how in only 12 months, 10/11 News changed the majority of its staff, the technology, and the methods used to produce its nightly broadcasts. Vanessa and Dave will also share their experiences as broadcast professionals and how they have effectively managed personal and professional changes.
